What will we be learning today?

  • In this lesson, we are going to review for the Unit 6 Exam.

  • Carbohydrates - one of the carbon compounds, such as sugars and starches, that supply energy for cell activities

    Solar Energy - energy form the Sun

    Solar Cells - a device that generates an electric current from sunlight

    Fossil Fuels - materials formed from ancient plants & animals - coal, oil and natural gas

    Coal - minerals of plant remains converted by heat and pressure

    Crude Oil - remains of tiny ocean-dwelling plants and animals became buried under mud and sand on the ocean bottom and are squeezed by the weight of mineral layers into thick liquid

    Natural Gas - the remains from crude oil are changed into a gas

    Fossils - any trace, imprint, or remains of a living thing preserved in Earth's crust

    Nonrenewable Resources - once we use the resources, we can't get them back

    Biomass Conversion - getting energy from plant and animal materials by changing them into high-quality fuels

    Renewable Resources - we can make more of the resources and use them again and again

    Hydroelectricity - the use of flowing water to generate electricity

    The Law of Conservation of Energy - the requirement that the total energy of the universe remain constant
