A long series of events led to the start of the American Revolution. At the end of the French Indian War, King George III restricted colonist from moving west to prevent conflicts with Native Americans. To pay for the French Indian War the British parliament decided to tax the colonists including the Suger Act, the Stamp Act, the Townsend Act and the Tea Tax. This led to the cry of "Taxation without Representation." Finally, events such as the Boston Massacre and Boston Tea Party escalated the conflict into a revolution.
