What is a sentence?
Sentence: A group of words, which make complete sense, is called as a
sentence.
A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a period.
an fruit is a apple (wrong)
An apple is a fruit. (correct)
Subject and Predicate:
Every sentence contains two parts: a subject and a predicate.
The subject is what the sentence is about, while the predicate tells us
something about the subject.
Example:
Jude and her dog run along the beach everyday.
(Subject)
Jude and her dog run along the beach everyday. (Predicate)
To determine the subject in a sentence, first isolate the verb, and then make a
question by placing who? Or what? Before it .... . The answer is the subject.
There are four kinds of sentences, they are:
1. Declarative sentences.
2. Interrogative sentences.
3. Imperative sentences.
4. Exclamatory sentences. |
