Reading and Writing Rocks Yellow / Lesson 16: Writing Imagination

Journal Writing
What will we be learning today?

  • In this lesson, we are going to write on your own.
  • The vocabulary word is imagination.
When have you had to use your imagination?

  • Imagination means to form images and ideas in your mind. When you have a good imagination you are able to describe or write about things that you have never seen or done.

Let's try working on your imagination.

  • Do you have a favorite television program? If you could write the script for the next show, what would it be about? Close your eyes for a minute and think about the things the characters would do.

You just used your imagination!

  • Authors use their imagination when they write stories.

  • They have to think about places they have never been.

  • They have to think about things they may never have done.

  • They have to create pictures in their head.

  • They have to look at things and be able to write about them.

  • If you were going to write a story about this picture, what would you say?

Sometimes looking at pictures can help you get your imagination going.

You are going to have to use your imagination to complete the worksheet for today. Use that brain of yours
