What will we be learning today?


  • In this lesson, we are going to learn all about consonant blends


  • Some words start with a consonant blend.

  • This is where two or more consonants run into one another or blend together.

  • Here are some examples. Read them out aloud:


  • Consonant blends are often difficult to hear so you need to say the words very clearly.


  • Here is the next part of your lesson.

  • You will go to an online activity to work on blends. Say the name of the picture slowly and listen for the blend. Click the circle next to the blend that the word begins with.

  • You will go to an online activity called WordBlender. WordBlender will say a word. You will choose the starting and ending sounds for each word.
