End of the Ice Age

What will we be learning today?

In this lesson, we are going to learn all about the end of the Ice Age.

What would make an Ice Age end?

  Heat, hot, warm, sunshine.

The Ice Age ended as the glaciers began to melt. The melting ice turned   into rivers and lakes.

Some of the water made its way back to the oceans. The water got higher   in the oceans and covered the land bridge.

The people and animals that used this land bridge to cross from Asia to   North America could not go back.

The people lived by hunting animals and   finding food in the plants.

The men would work as a group to kill   animals

The women found food in the plants near the camp.

To make some jobs easier man made tools. The first tools were   made from stone. These stone tools helped with cutting, pounding,   and killing animals.

Some groups of people got tired of moving all the time to find food.   They started to stay in one place. These people began to plant   seeds.

They were the first farmers. They grew foods like corn, squash, beans, tomatoes, and sunflowers.

You will learn about some of the first people to be farmers in the next lessons.
