Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. 

Adverbs often answer these questions.

  • When?
  • Where?
  • How often?
  • How much?

 How often?

 Our team usually wins. 

("Usually" tells how often the team wins.)

Most adverbs are formed by adding the suffix "ly" to another word.

If a word ends in "y," the "y" is usually changed to "i" before the suffix "ly" is added.
