Introduction to Adjectives


  • Some words make language come alive for a reader or listener just like colors and sounds make video games more life like and exciting.


  • These words are modifiers
    1. Modifiers change or add to the meaning of a word to make it more vivid, exact or clear.
    2. In this lesson we will learn about adjectives.


What will we be learning in this lesson?

    1. Definition of an adjective
    2. 4 kinds of adjectives
    3. To recognize adjectives in a sentence.

What will we be learning today?


  • Today you will be learning about adjectives and articles.
  • Definition of a Adjective
  • An adjective is a word that modifies or changes the meaning of a noun. It's purpose is to describe the noun.
  • An adjective will answer these questions about a noun.

  •  1. What kind? 
     2. Which one?
     3. How many?
     4. How much?

Articles


  • Three often used words are called articles. They are :
      a  
      an  
      the

    Articles can be definite or indefinite

    Definite :
    1. "the"
    2. Points to a specific person, place or thing.

    Indefinite :
    1. "a, an"
    2. Points to any member of a group of similar people, places or things.
